configuration menu
The SpotiStation configuration menu (reached by pressing either of the ⏏️ back buttons
when prompted during startup) serves to provide quick and essential information to administrators without having to ssh into the machine.
It has three submenus:
- Manual page
- Playlist selection interface
- IP address display
When you enter the configuration menu, you use the ↕️ side buttons
to move the virtual cursor up and down and and the ⏯️ play/pause button
to select.
This submenu simply displays a QR code that links to this wiki. It is a quick way to look something up without needing to look up this repository (or try to remember the URL).
🔙 press the ⏯️ play/pause button
again to exit and start the player
SpotiStation allows you to only keep a subset of your Spotify playlists in rotation. Only playlists that are in rotation will be played back by the player.
Note: you can still play back songs from playlists not in rotation on the player if you use another device to control playback (e.g. your phone). Whether a playlist is in rotation only affects playback when the SpotiStation is handling and controlling playback.
When you open the playlist selection page you should see a list of all the playlists linked to your Spotify account. You can use the ↕️ side buttons
to move up and down through the list. A small >
marker should let you know where your cursor currently is.
A playlist can be in either of two states (1) in-rotation or (2) ignored. If a playlist is in-rotation, it will be shown in 🟢green, while ignored playlists are shown in ⚪gray.
To switch a playlist from in-rotation to ignored (and vice versa), simply press the ⏯️ play/pause button
when the cursor is at that playlist. You should see the colour change to the new state.
🔙 To save the new configuration, you will need to navigate all the way to the top of the list and press the ⏯️ play/pause button
when the -- save --
option is highlighted. The new playlist config will be saved, and the player will start.
This submenu simply displays the IP adress of the player on the network. Very handy if you want to SSH into the player with a dynamic IP that might change or if you did not write down the IP.
