Releases: peastman/sso
SSO 4.0
- Added vibraphone.
- Added harmonics for solo strings.
- Added staccato for solo violins.
I decided it was time to bump the version number to 4.0. In itself, this update is no larger than lots of others, but the accumulated changes since 3.0 are huge. Updating the first digit recognizes that.
I expect updates to be much less frequent going forward. I feel like I've now done almost everything I wanted to, or at least, all the ones that are possible with the resources available to me. Now it's time to focus on making music.
SSO 3.9
- Created "All Strings", "All Brass", and "All Woodwinds" ensemble instruments.
- Most string instruments can add vibrato, controlled with CC21.
- Looped all the samples for solo violin 2.
- Improvements to the harpsichord: extended the range, made the volumes of release samples more uniform, allow using CC12 to control the volume of the release samples.
- Various minor improvements and bug fixes.
SSO 3.8
SSO 3.7
- Added staccato and marcato articulations to all the solo brass instruments.
- Added staccato articulations to all the wind instruments (except the various flutes, which already had them).
- Lots of improvements to sound: cleaned up notes with clicks and other noises, cleaned up messy attacks, made dynamics more realistic, etc.
- Looped the tremolo samples for the violin sections.
SSO 3.6
The biggest new feature in this release is a pipe organ. It includes 14 stops in three divisions. They can be used individually or combined to create more complex sounds. An assortment of combination presets is provided, or you can create your own.
The solo flutes (flute 1 and 2, alto flute, piccolo) get a big upgrade. All of them now have staccato and marcato articulations.
The percussion section receives some much needed attention. Timpani rolls have been looped so you can hold them as long as you want. Noisy samples for triangle and finger cymbals have been cleaned up. Snare drum and triangle rolls have sampled releases to create cleaner cutoffs. "Left hand" and "right hand" hits have been turned into round robins. Separate loud and soft samples have been turned into crossfaded layers. The tuning of the timpani has been improved.
SSO 3.5
This release is another major upgrade to the strings, especially the solo instruments.
- Added a solo viola.
- Added a solo bass.
- Added staccato, marcato, and pizzicato articulations to the solo cello.
- Added pizzicato articulation for solo violin 1.
- Added col legno articulations for all string sections.
- Improved the overall sound of the solo cello (corrected the tuning, fixed some samples with bad attacks).
- Fixed a few samples with clicks in them.
SSO 3.4
This release is focused on polishing the details to make the instruments sound better and more realistic.
- The chorus has cleaner attacks, more natural sounding dynamics, and more even panning.
- Marcato articulations now use 2x round robins for the attacks.
- The flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoons use a filter to create more natural sounding dynamics.
- Fixed a few samples that had clicks in them.
SSO 3.3
This release adds several new features.
- Legato articulations for all string, wind, and brass instruments.
- The brass performance instruments sound more natural when changing dynamics.
- The horns have a new set of sustain samples with a larger range and two layers.
