Ethical Scanner is an Android mobile application, built with a flutter framework, that can scan the barcode of a product and tell you if the product meets your ethical standards. The app uses data from various sources, including "Open Food Facts".

What

  • I added the Ethical Scanner Android app to the list of apps using openfoodfacts-dart in the README.md file.

Hi @Turskyi!
To be honest I'm puzzled by your app description/screenshots on Google Play or on your website.
That doesn't really look like an app to me.

As far as I understood the README the app should show if a producer supports Russia.

I couldn't find one, but I guess it's that's a good sign

Also I like the animations in the app

Thank you @monsieurtanuki and @M123-dev for your feedback on my app. I appreciate your time and expertise.

Ethical Scanner is a work in progress and it is not meant to be a final product. It is a proof of concept that I created to explore the potential of using Open Food Facts data to inform consumers about the ethical aspects of their purchases. The app is still in development and I'm constantly improving it based on user feedback and preferences.

The app currently provides the information that I care about, such as whether a product or a producer supports Russia or other countries that are involved in conflicts or human and animal rights violations. This is a feature that I find useful and relevant, but I understand that it may not appeal to everyone. I'm open to adding more features and criteria that users may want to see in the app, such as environmental impact, animal well-being, health ratings, etc.

I uploaded the app to Google Play with minimal functionality, just to share it with my friends and get their opinions. I did not intend to launch it publicly or officially yet. I followed the instructions in the openfoodfacts-dart documentation to add my app to the list and create a pull request, because I thought it would be a nice way to showcase how I use the library and to contribute to the Open Food Facts community. I did not see any specific requirements or guidelines for the apps that can be added to the list, as long as they follow the code of conduct and use the library.

However, I respect your judgment and opinion as the maintainers of the library. If you think that my app is not suitable or ready to be included in the list, I will not argue with you or insist on it. I apologize if I caused any inconvenience or confusion by submitting my pull request. I hope you will reconsider my app in the future when it is more polished and complete.

Thank you for your understanding and support. 😊
