This week: Symbolic data!

Conversational notes

  • Fn 32 (Pg 193): "equals can be substituted for equals"
  • Fn 34 (Pg 194): Does this rule limit the syntactic forms that can be introduced?
  • Fn 36 (Pg 196): = == eq? || = != eq? ??
  • 2.3.2 (Pg 197): design API first (abstracting data abstraction) [serializing]

Other notes

  • We should probably have some sort of live-chat thing going, for people that can't physically be there :/

weekly recap message

Hello all!

We had a great meeting this past Friday, discussing various kinds of quoting and the sometimes curious impacts they can have on languages, different types of types, and symbolic differentiation. Then we went upstairs and partied while robots played rock music!

Next week will be our last meeting before a break for the holidays. We'll resume in the new year, on Jan 10. For this coming Friday we'll cover 2.3.3 and explore different ways to represent sets. We may also have a small celebration, possibly involving cookies.

Happy coding!
