Hopper filling invalid recipes

When using this mod (version 2.1.1, Fabric 1.20.1), I'm running into an issue where using a Hopper will fill up the forge with everything in rapid succession instead of only allowing valid recipes/only forging one ore/ingot/etc. at a time. I'm looking for some guidance on how to fix this issue, or if possible to make a suggestion to only allow valid forge recipes to be put into the forge. I've tried just hoppers connected to a chest, dispensers on a redstone pulse, Create funnels, and so far nothing has prevented it. I have attached a couple screenshots to show what is happening and how I had the Item hopper attached. I'm happy to provide any additional info or do testing as needed.

Same issue, mod dev please some fix or workaround? (1.20.1) I saw, it is fixed for newer versions, but unfortunately my modpack is in 1.20.1,
