Logo suggestion #3
Comments
I will glad to make a logo V OS ✌️ 😊 |
Please keep a respectful distance from the FireFox logo ;) |
@gslicer of course i will 😁 |
Same thing versus the Gitlab logo :) |
@nsauzede maybe almost like gitlab logo 😁 |
but in blue/white right ? Like an Arctic Fox ? |
Great! If in some way you can make it harmonize with the V logo, that'd be even better. I guess that's what @nsauzede was going for with his suggestion. Maybe you can even somehow embed the V shape in the fox logo as well. These are just suggestions, you can explore freely. Would like to see what you come up with. Where can we see your work? |
@JordyScript Actually I just create the V Logo 😊 |
Hey how to use victory sign in v logo |
How to use a victory sign in place of simple v. |
I'd like to see this OS having a logo of a black fox. It just comes to my mind 😄 |
why not... a black logo; maybe with a touch of blue here and there ? |
I think having a mascot can be a great idea and keeping the name VINIX as the logo. It will be more useful in the long run as having the word logo and a mascot helps in retaining the complete name of the project and will boost the word of mouth drastically since the reader don't have to recall the name of the project after seeing the logo. For reference, one can see Linux, Minix, Go lang, etc. And the mascot will work as the official brand ambassador of the project in its documentations, articles/blogs, community forums, etc |
|
I like what has been being made so far!👍 |
@georgelemon Looks great, minimalist and clean. 👍🏻 |
Thanks! I really like the idea of a new operating system around for servers and even for home users. I know this is going to be a long road, so when VINIX will reach to the GUI part I will be happy to help you guys creating various concepts and graphics for the user interface. Let's make this be the next thing! |
A mascot would be also nice, but I don't think is the right time to reveal its face! Hehe |
Looks nice, George! I like the VINIX font. |
Based on simple shapes via Illustrator <3 Here is the Dark color: <svg version="1.1" id="VINIX" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" x="0px" y="0px"

`vos` is already taken.
Oh, you can still take my "vinix" version one

vos is already taken. We searched. vos was the original name until we did

the one suggestion that wasn't already used for some sort of software (it
*is* used for something else, just not software, as I recall).

Hello @georgelemon, can you tell me the font used on the top-left corner and at the bottom, as well as the icon used on the top-left ? I'd like to use your splash screens to make a landpage for the Vinix website |
@Gladear, the font used for bottom line "Modern Operating System" is called Berlin. You can switch to a free-to use one like Inter V Font family, which is very similar and has many variations. The V is just a triangle with sharpen edges. I made it because the actual V logo it doesn't seem so modern to me. The font used for "Vinix is an effort" description is Source Code Pro Give me some time and I will make some good alternatives to current V logo for a future rebranding. Attached you can find a zip with VINIX sources. |
Have people settled on a logo yet? Just in case we're still taking contributions: Here's my 2 cents. I'll explain my reasoning behind the design. I've taken some cues from the official V lang logo (colors and slanted top of the v.) To me the 3rd logo (caption, not order) is the best one. It looks unique but familiar. It's a bit more aggressive than the official V logo because of the sharp edges, but it is still recognizable as part of the same branding. The logo works well as line art, or with filled colors. It can have black and white, greyscale, or color variatns. The logo can be treated as the letter V in the name Vinix or placed next to the word vinix. I think it's simple and versatile enough to serve any potential purrpose a good logo should serve. There are two other options below (logo 2 and logo 1). If you all prefer those over logo3, then that's fine too, but my personal favorite is logo 3. If you don't want any of my logo attempts that's fine too. |
Also if the naming is still up for discussion. How about Vnesse. A play on the word finesse. Because Vnesse aspires to be an OS with a polished aesthetic and user experience. What do you guys think? |
The name is settled, I really like @georgelemon's text VINIX logo. |
Agreed, |
What about a sort of stand/pedestal for the V, as the vinix logo? Like a thinner V and a stand the V sits in, instead of the triangle on top (your proposal could be used for stuff that somehow "extend" or "sit on top" the V ecosystem, while the os is really a "foundation"). The complete logo (triangle on top + V + stand) could be used to represent the V language and ecosystem hosted in vinix. |
The logo with the triangle and the V could be used as a template for basic programs or libs written in V, by modifying the triangle on top (for instance, the logo for the UI lib could be simply the basic logo + something like the text "UI" or an icon with two overlapping rectangles - windows) |
I like the idea of a V based OS. For branding, why don't you use a fox (inspired) logo? My reason for saying this is that "vos" is the dutch word for Fox.
I might not be the best person to contribute a logo, but maybe someone else can run with this idea and make something cool.
