Previously, with the separated WiFis, it was possible to clearly choose whether to use the "silent" or the "ninja" mode.
It's not clear what mode is used, when connected. For me, that defeats the purpose of the "ninja" mode, as I've used this to reliably connect a device via Tor only.
I see two possible approaches to this.
Implement an option to broadcast a second WiFi for the "ninja" mode.
Allow the device admin to set a default for all connected devices
edit: I can't seem to find the code which defines the mode for a new device. Maybe I can manually patch this until this has been resolved.
