We need better tutorials for students to get started with Thetis. Please add here your ideas of missing documentation, examples, and tips.

  • Turbulence model documentation
  • Tracer model documentation
  • Sediment model documentation
  • Turbulence demo
  • Tracer demo
  • Sediment demo

Hello Tuomas,

As a beginner of Thetis, I would like to request to include the examples shown in section 5.2 (surface wave shoaling over a submerged bar) and section 5.3 (Surface solitary wave generation by a 3D landslide) of the paper: "Comparing non-hydrostatic extensions to a discontinuous finite element coastal ocean model" published in 2020.

Thanks for considering my suggestion!

Boyuan

Hi Boyuan, thanks for reaching out. I think @wei-pan is the right person to comment here, but those examples require multi-layer or 3D non-hydrostatic solver. These solvers have not yet been incorporated in the Thetis master branch, so we cannot include these examples at this stage. We are working on getting the non-hydrostatic solvers merged and will include these examples as well.

Hi Boyuan,

Thanks for the suggestion. We will merge the depth-integrated non-hydrostatic (NH) solver soon, and after that more NH solvers will be incorporated. The associated examples should be demonstrated. Cheers
