Bahram: As a side note for future developments: by taking into account the open water areas, the tool can be used to inform mesh generation process for important underwater features like ridges and continental slopes. These features might not be of immediate importance for physical models but could be important for local or biological applications.
Fei: Saeed also mentioned this and I agree it should be prioritized in future development. I'm thinking maybe using the location of largest bathymetry gradient to identify the edge of an underwater dredged channel or ridges.
