We currently do not allow gig work because of the risk it brings and how hard it would be to moderate. Our community however sporadically brings up how they would like to be able to post gig-work and would love for us to somehow offer this in the Discord.

Our admin & moderation team have expressed interest in the possibility for gigs, if we can somehow prevent it from being a shit show that would overload the moderation team with requests to mediate in conflicts. We also are aware of the potential risks it would introduce wrt to folks getting scammed.

I would like to propose the following. We create a separate channel for gig-work, which is fully controlled by reactibot. Posts are posted by the bot, which is fed the information for a post by an automated process. Users open up a request for a post, fill in a set of required fields, and reactibot proceeds to post it in the channel.

I feel this would give us full control of the post format, it lets us gatekeep who can post (maybe there are rules on how long a member has been part of the Discord and needs to have an account that has a certain age). We can also accurately log/observe posts, control their lifecycle and potentially include tooling to autoban folks that abuse the system
