It is possible for most apps since Windows supports dark mode for every control (the "DarkMode_Explorer" theme (for most of them), AppMode (for menus) and DWMWA_USE_IMMERSIVE_DARK_MODE (for the title bar and window scrollbars)). There are a few issues with them like the AppMode functions being undocummented. It's only impossible to do for apps that ownerdraw the controls instead of using the built in style but for every other app it is possible. |

Would it be possible to have a universal per-app Win32 dark mode mod? Something similar to Dark Reader (web extension), which allows you to toggle dark mode on a per-app basis in case it doesn't theme correctly.
I've heard of system patchers like Rectify11 that I believe patch everything to support dark mode, but I was hoping for something that is just injected/patched at a per-app basis so that it can be easily toggled if the app doesn't look right with the dark mode.
Back when Windows Notepad and Paint didn't support dark mode, there's mods like Dark Mode for Notepad, Dark Paint, and additionally Dark mode context menus
Is something like a universal per-app Win32 dark mode mod possible?
