We need a driver installed in certain situations. QMK Flasher should use QMK Driver Installer to install this automatically when needed.

Since you assigned this task to yourself; what would be a realistic expected date for a solution of this issue?

I had planned to do that work during my trip to Seattle last month, but ended up not having enough time. It's still on my todo list but I don't have a firm timeline right now. If someone wants to do it sooner I'm happy to hand it off.
