Upgrading from 1.0.0-rc6 to rc7 breaks back/forward buttons for modals

• Phoenix LiveView version (mix deps): 1.0.0-rc6/rc7
• Operating system: macOS
• Browsers you attempted to reproduce this bug on (the more the merrier): Chrome

My LiveView app running LiveView 1.0.0-rc6 uses @live_action to show/hide a modal based on the URL. On LV v1.0.0-rc6, the modal shows/hides with the back/forward buttons:

But when I upgrade to v1.0.0-rc7, it doesn't work anymore.

(I get the same results if I pull LiveView from latest main.)

Is this a bug, or a feature?

You can see the full code for this LiveView here, but the relevant parts are:

• The LV is rendered on /rooms/:id with live action = nil, and on /rooms/:id/new with live action = :new:

I think you're probably running into #3513. Can you try with latest main? I hope we'll get out rc.8 soon...

Latest main doesn't fix it unfortunately. (Specifically d1901861e90fb60ab26326e213ec18f92b5d06da)

I just checked, it is indeed #3513, but the assets weren't built yet on main so you didn't pick it up by just pointing the dep to main.

They are updated now, so if you use {:phoenix_live_view, github: "phoenixframework/phoenix_live_view", override: true} and do a mix deps.update phoenix_live_view --force you can see it working again.

Will be fixed in rc.8 :)

Sorry to bump this old thread but it doesn't look like this is actually fixed.

Steps to replicate:

• Clone https://github.com/TheArrowsmith/slax, specifically d6dc237df3e1e0e9b8eb3dff01484ac0161fba42 (latest main at the time of writing)
• Run mix ecto.setup which should add some seed data.
• Login as username frodo, password TheFellowship.
• Click "add rooms" in the sidebar then "create a new room" to open the modal.

On d6dc237d, which is running 1.0.0-rc.5, the back and forward buttons work as you'd expect:

But if you update it to 1.0.1 (or 1.0.0), it behaves like this:

I.e. only the first "back" works properly, then it no longer does.

Is this a bug, or a skill issue?

Hmmm it looks like I can "fix" this by changing the modal's id when the path changes - presumably this remounts the component so phx-mounted runs again and shows/hides the modal correctly:
