copy as fast as clone

When using

pnpm install --config.package-import-method=copy

and

pnpm install --config.package-import-method=clone

I get roughly the same speed.

I removed the node_modules folder before trying.

I am on Mac 15.1.1 and on pnpm 9.15.3

Clone should be significantly faster then copy. Maybe its not really copying but rather cloning too?

Maybe you are testing on a small project where the difference is negligible. We use this library for cloning: https://github.com/pnpm/reflink
