A tuft cell that is part of the nasal cavity epithelium, located in both the respiratory and olfactory epithelia of the nose. This cell plays a vital role in chemosensensation , contribute to immune responses, and regulate epithelial homeostasis. It expresses specific markers such as TRPM5, AVIL, and ChAT and is more abundant in the nasal cavity than in the trachea(PMID: 38306414).
