having problems upgrading to latest version

Hello, so I'm fairly new on using pythom and I have been working my way to it but there are a few issues I'm having.

On the Windows side, everything is fairly straight forward but I am currently using a mac and installing the program was easy enough but I am having problems getting the latest version. pip is not doing it.

What exactly is the proper command? I have Macport installed btw.

So yes, when I apply the command, it indicates it was sucessful as shown here

Requirement already satisfied: gallery-dl in /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.12/lib/python3.12/site-packages (1.28.0)

But when I check it to make sure I'm running latest version this is what it shows

1.27.7

I was able to upgrade it from 1.26 to the version it is now using sudo port selfupdate && sudo port upgrade gallery-dl but that stopped working as well.

You should be able to run the updated version with

python3 -m gallery_dl ...

There are probably multiple Python versions on your system, with python3 referring to one (the latest?) and gallery-dl --version using another.

I was able to upgrade to the latest version by deleting the conflicting python versions. I had 3 versions. 3.10 3.11 and 312.

I deleted 10 and 11 and I now have the latest version running on 3.12.

I now get this message:

Warning: Error parsing file /Applications/MacPorts/Python 3.11/Python Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/Python Launcher: Error opening or reading file
Warning: Error parsing file /Applications/MacPorts/Python 3.10/Python Launcher.app/Contents/MacOS/Python Launcher: Error opening or reading file

How do I get rid of these warnings now that the outdated versions aren't there? Gallery-dl seems to be working fine so no problem there.

I now get this message:

These are most likely remnants of the Python 3.10 and 3.11 installations, which apparently weren't removed completely. sudo port -f uninstall python3.10 and sudo port -f uninstall python3.11 might help.

if this does not help, set up an alias to launch the correct gallery-dl in your shell. macos should ship with zsh, afaik, and if i am not mistaken, aliases have precedence (in both zsh and bash, for example)
