Add tests to github actions workflows

Currently, our deployment step is done "manually", i.e. we must manually dispatch the workflow under the actions tab. However, with better testing, we can make the entire process truly automatic.

At the very least, maybe we can add some tests to the deploy workflow, either directly through github actions, or in the script that is called on the server.
