BlenderBob has a plugin for copying shapekeys from one mesh to another and I can confirm it works across MPFB characters. There's also a video but I don't have the link handy - the plugin is dead easy to use. Pick one mesh, pick the other, copy. Done. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/sbbwdcbvnofnemkoqmlsi/BlenderBob_TransferShapeKeysAddon.py?rlkey=tqwipwwycjleu7kb01pzmbree&e=1&st=vvym8uis&dl=0

Pretty sure that with a little tweaking and good shapekeys on a suitable basemesh, MPFB characters could be mocap-ready out of the box. At best, if the meshes are very different a little tweaking might be needed. That will also neatly dodge the need for a face rig attached to Mixamo, etc - with the shapekeys, you can pose the face on a Mixamo doll without a face rig (I'm already doing it. It works with MPFB). Voila, Mixamo with face animation. Solved.

Right now, the main issue with using this is that the rigs break when I import them into scenes (tried assets, append, copy-paste...), so the process to use involves a complicated thing with importing the scene into a copy of the rig. Still figuring that one out. But if MPFB can just manifest a doll into the scene ready for face or body mocap, that makes life very easy. Generate rig, start animating.

A more convenient way to download user shared assets. Right now in the forums, this means accessing files separately, putting them into a folder, etc - would be simpler to have a link to download a zip that we can upload/apply through the plugin? Though I guess this is feedback for the repository rather than the plugin itself.

Just saw this. I have shapekeys I've made for some of my characters. I can try learning to make targets for them once I get MPFB working on Blender 4.3 (or revert)
