It would be nice to have a command to pin an issue

This is quite useful for cases when the repository has an initiative or a breaking change for example.

Could be only available to maintainers.

Something like /pin-issue

Example issue kubernetes-sigs/external-dns#4347

I have not found anything similar in the available commands list.

Would the primary motivation be convenience for folks who already have the GH permissions (=repo write), or is the motivation to extend that capability to some people who do not have that GH permission?

Good question. In our case, only a single contributor has this GH rights. So I would assume

The primary benefit is for

extend that capability to some people who do not have that GH permission

@mloiseleur am I correct?

That sounds reasonable. What would be the suitable group to give the permission then? Maybe we can mimic what /override is doing and allow top-level OWNERS approvers to use the command. Would that work for you? What I'm trying to avoid is a dedicated configuration for the list of people allowed to use the command.

Is it possible to configure it for approvers and reviewers? I'm fine with only approvers too, basically is better something then nothing. This could be revisited any time. Thanks

Could we also have /unpin-issue ;-)
