p16s not playing a .mov (Apple QuickTime movie) file

Behavior to open a .mov file w/xdg-open was strange.

I'm seeing an error on a popup window:

audio/x-gst-fourcc-apac decoder is required to play the file, but is not installed

Then shown an option to find software on Ubuntu, which I clicked but no option is offered. Meanwhile, xdg-open starts playing the video, both image and sound, but the timeframe slider remains at 0:00:00 🤔

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras https://askubuntu.com/a/1468959/24203 then xdg-open again, then the error stopped but the windown remains to be black. Purged the pkg and autoremoved.

On blender's Video Editing (which I need this .mov file to be imported to for editing), I see it played but the image is upside down.

Seems solved by blender.stackexchange.com#167877.

That's actually pretty easy. In the sequencer editor, select your strip and hit N to display the sidebar on the right. Under Adjust / Transform, check Mirror X and Mirror Y.

This (still) happens with xdg-open with a file *ndo-n**i-**.mp4 but it's not an issue for me for now as it can be played on blender.
