Colour Themed Cell Execution status

In respect of this extension providing feedback to a user regarding the cell execution status, would it also be possible to provide an option to highlight the cell run status the cell gutter?

For example, my classic nb extension nb_cell_execution_status originally derived from NII-cloud-operation/Jupyter-multi_outputs indicates whether cells successfully completed execution, unsucessfully terminated, or are awaiting execution:
