Currently, the model is based on 45 sectors. It would be nice if functionality could be added to allow for aggregation of sectors, in particular:

  • essential and non-essential sectors
  • 16 sector model
  • sector aggregation by contact intensity

These can be pre-set/fixed in the code.

Thanks, I'm just seeing this. So to try and understand this better, do you mean that the package should hold information on the mapping of the current sectors to the categories you mentioned, and then downstream calculations (e.g. costs) should be aggregated by this mapping?

Or is the idea that the aggregation should be at the level of the state variable and the ODEs? This would need approrpriate aggregation of the worker counts, openness co-efficients and GVA values.

Happy to meet post IDM to work out the details and where this falls on a priority list.
