I am Varsha Ahirwar, last year I contributed to the project 'Add logging and error catching tool'. I have mailed you the proposal with the all requirements.
Unfortunately last year this project didn't get the slot by Google. I am really happy to see this project idea this year also, and I am highly motivated and interested in working on this project.
I have all the dependencies and installations and I have already checked everything is working smoothly.
So I want to request you to please give your valuable feedback for my sent email that contains the complete proposal and code, video as was directed by you last year.
It will be really helpful for me to improve it better for this year.

For 1. The idea is to do something like this

The user draw a polygon and every mask voxel that are projected inside that polygon are discarded.

I'm happy to report that I successfully completed step 1 of the application process by setting up the InVesalius development environment. As confirmation, I've attached a video demonstrating the completed setup.

Moving forward, I have a few questions to ensure I'm on the right track:

Project Tools: Beyond the general development environment, are there specific software tools or libraries I should be familiar with for this project? Information on recommended tools would be very helpful.

Expected Deliverables: Could you please elaborate on the expected deliverables for the chosen project, "Implement UX principles to improve InVesalius usability"? What specific outcomes or functionalities should I aim for?

Step 2 of Application: Regarding the second step of the application process, could you provide more guidance on what constitutes a "working code sample relevant for the proposed project"?

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek clarification and guidance regarding my planned contribution to the open-source project, specifically focusing on the Improvements in User Response (loading and saving files).

As outlined in the Application guide, it is suggested that applicants provide a working code sample relevant to their proposed project. In line with this, I decided to develop a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) utilizing wxPython and pubSub for a clear separation of concerns.

To clarify, the MVP I'm working on simulates the process of uploading and saving an Image, divided into a set of steps to demonstrate the concept of using a progress bar. This serves as a small example of what I intend to implement in the actual project, focusing on improving user response in loading and saving files.

Before proceeding further, I have a couple of questions:

1. Would my approach of developing an MVP using wxPython and pubSub, simulating the process of uploading and saving an image with a progress bar, be suitable for the project, considering its aim to enhance user response in file operations? Or should I consider one of the suggested tasks such as creating unit tests, adding type information, or developing a simple plugin?

2. In crafting the MVP, I have structured the code into three separate files to simulate the Invesalius codebase effectively. When sharing this with you for review, would it be acceptable to upload a zip file containing the separate files, or should I consolidate them into a single file before submission?

I appreciate your guidance on these matters and eagerly await your feedback.

Ideally would be to integrate the code with InVesalius, but given the deadline, you can submit the simulation code that you made.

I have created this pull request to integrate a code with InVesalius and to Show that the idea I used in the MVP will work with the actual InVesalius codebase.

I'm working on the Performance Optimization in real-time Neuronavigation. I've gone through the PRs and seen the use of wxPython for GUI building but I've found out few better alternatives as pyqt, opencv.

Is there a underlying reason for wx to be used here or can it be replaced by better alternatives.

Hi Geoff,

We never tested the communication with Polhemus Viper or Wireless, only with Patriot and Fastrak. If Viper and Wireless use the same API as Patriot, it might work.
