Can't edit description and location in external library photos

I can't edit description or location in photos contained in external libraries (nfs mounted file system) using neither the Android app or the webui. Is this by design? What can I do in order to circunvent this limitation? I'm using folder templates also.

You can’t edit if the filesystem is mounted as read only, or immich doesn’t have write permission to the library.

Ok. Thanks! I thought there were some setting to circunvent this limitation, maybe storing the location, description and other additional data in sidecar-like files created in the same place where immich creates the thumbnails and/or preview files.
