What would you like to change?

Upgrade GOV.UK Frontend from 3.12.0 to the latest (v5.4.0) at the time of writing this issue.

How do you think that would improve the project?

idam login sits in front of numerous HMCTS live services, including:

There is a legal requirement to make all government services WCAG 2.2 compliant. Not doing so could leave HMCTS open to legal action via the GDS accessibility enforcement team, or individual users, as they can cite the Equality Act 2010 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

By upgrading to the latest version of GOV.UK Frontend, it will ensure the login page is:

GOV.UK Template

GOV.UK Template has now been replaced by the GOV.UK Design System, it is therefore advised to remove this dependency from the idam login page and replace it with GOV.UK Frontend page templates.

GOV.UK Template:

GOV.UK Template will remain available in case you’re currently using it. To help your service meet accessibility requirements, you should use the GOV.UK Design System. You can migrate to the Design System from GOV.UK Template.
