Currently we have a stub for a news section in the zola helix-editor/website repository, which accepts markdown news posts. I have been following a very succesful "this week in" blog series effort for the Gnome project over at thisweek.gnome.org. They are able to keep up with weekly updates despite being a loosely organized community of contributors by automating the content via a matrix chat bot. The full explanation of the reasoning is in this blog post.
How it works is people mention a chat bot in a matrix room (we already have a helix workspace, so it should be easy to add a new room under the same umbrella), which a short description of what they have been working on, tips and tricks, etc. There are moderators that use emojis to approve and categorize (fully customizable), and at the end of the week (or month if we want), an admin can run a render command which will output a markdown file suitable for dropping directly into the website/content/news directory.
