monav 0.3.release-3+hg5585bb4a8d77 crashes on startup

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start monav

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

On screen, message "renderer file format not compatible" flickers briefly.

In console, I can see : 

~ $ monav
failed to load map information 
Segmentation fault
~ $ 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

 0.3.release-3+hg5585bb4a8d77 on Nokia N900


I tried finding updated maps, but AFAICT maps from 
http://monav.openstreetmap.de/index-0.4.html should be okay. At the very least, 
they worked before monav got updated two weeks (or so) ago. Any ideas?
