Request for assistance in updating SAA style to reflect December 2023 revisions

Hi everyone - I could use some help in updating the existing Society for American Archaeology (SAA) style to reflect the changes that were made in December 2023. Since not all institutions have updated their citation handouts, I am wondering if it would be best handled as a new version that institutions could select to use when they are ready to adopt the 2023 changes.

Here is a list of specific issues my colleagues and I have identified with the existing style

• "Entries should be flush left. Arrange the parts of each reference in the general order author(s)/editor(s), date, title (and subtitle if applicable), publisher, location of publisher." (SAA style guide, p. 32)
• The hard break in the current style after the author element should be removed. The element should end with a period.
• The publication date element should end with a period.
• Journal titles should be capitalized according to title case
• DOI should be formatted with https:/doi.org/ prefix rather than DOI:
• Editor element should end with a period.
• If there are up to 10 authors, then all the author names are listed. If there are more than 10, then only the first 7 authors are listed and then this is followed by et al

I am not sure how to best move this forward. Thanks for your advice.

I am actually working with SAA on this style on commission. The style is in its 2nd review, so should be able to be submitted this week.
