Future work on the 6LBR

In the upcoming releases of 6LBR, we will improve the integration between the Native Border Router and the Linux host, externalize some part of the IPv6 services towards the Linux stack, improve the user configuration, provide tools to perform RPL live debugging, ...

Also, the 6LBR will serve a platform to investigate more advanced topics like :

  1. Mote mobility across WSN : Although the basic mechanism are available in, version 1.0 of 6LBR, there are many way to improve the mote mobility and the reactivity of the system as a whole
  2. Border Router redundancy : Industrial deployment requires reliability, as single point of failure the 6LBR is a critical point of a network. We will investigate and develop mechanism to to easily deploy and interconnect redundant Border Router.
  3. Multi-instance RPL : Multi-instance is a underdeveloped area of RPL. However, providing multiple DAG could be useful for high-reliability applications
  4. ...
