Some time ago we had a discussion that hyperSpec could be relicensed from GPL3 to MIT license. Currently, authors of tidyverse are systematically relicensing their packages to MIT, e.g., tidyverse/ggplot2#4231. Could we also do the same thing? I.e., create a new issue where all contributors could agree to relicense the package.

What do you think @cbeleites and @bryanhanson?

Claudia will have to decide on this but I'm pretty sure she had secured the OK from many of the contributors already.
