Add China-VO Archive Query Tool #3172
Comments
Hi @oneLuckyfish , Yes, we'd be interested in those contributions to astroquery. If they're vo-compliant, you may want to implement them using pyvo & vo tools. If you'd like to discuss your plans offline, you can also contact @bsipocz and I via e-mail and on the astropy slack (@bsipocz, could you specify your preference here?). |
I slightly prefer slack, either the ivoa or astropy one (I'm much less active on the latter, but would notice messages with a couple of day delays). Email can work, too. Also, I'm planning to start having astroquery zoom calls, which could be another way to connect. As to answer your question about demand: I am not aware of anyone asking us astroquery maintainers about a LAMOST module, but that doesn't mean that there won't be usage. Also, you may have received more demand at the archive if your users directly asked for it to be available via astroquery or another Pythonic library (we definitely see this at other archives and services). |
I'd like to think that creating a service on astroquery is a way to raise awareness and demand, too. |
Thank you for your thoughtful and prompt response. We have indeed received requests regarding the integration of APIs like LAMOST into astroquery. Doing this could definitely boost the visibility of these data, which is something both we and the Astroquery community want to see. We're starting to develop these data query tools based on our previous work. If needed, I'd prefer to reach out via email for your guidance and support. |
Dear Astroquery team,
Currently, the China Virtual Observatory has provided data management services for many Chinese telescopes, such as the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopy Telescope and the Einstein Probe. We hope to develop some data query tools based on these data to enrich the Astroquery community. Before proceeding with this work, we would like to know if there is a demand for such features in Astroquery. Thank you~
