Current Workflow

The surgical planning workflow for the lungs has improved a lot but is still intense.

Due to the variable anatomy of lung vessels and bronchi, we need to do planning sessions of around 30 min for each case realistically.

Some of the workflows are included here, and Eserval Rocha Jun. from Brazil is on the same track.

The current workflow is (2/14/2023):

• Full segmentation of both lungs, lobes and airways (enable Totalsegmentator basic AI) via the Lung CT Segmenter extension, with enabled vessel segmentation
• Manual segmentation of the tumor (Local threshold, segment editor)
• Manual adjustments (elongations) of bronchi
• Careful volume rendering of the center block thoracic CT volume that lung ct segmenter creates
• The center block contains only intrathoracic organs and not the thoracic wall.
• Segment resections: colorize pulmonary artery and veins with grow from seeds
