Was posted for element, too, but since I do expect that the Element developers will not care for this I suggest this as an explicit feature for SchildiChat:

Your use case

What would you like to do?

I would like to be able to override room notification settings for individual threads, i.e. to be able to

  • make selected threads not generating notifications, or
  • make only selected threads to generate notifications.

Why would you like to do it?

I am in a group that uses threads heavily to keep the chat history "clear" and to make it easy for others to skip of the thread is not of relevance to them.

It would be really useful to select, as the chat goes on, individual threads to me muted (if the default room setting is "not muted") or unmuted (if the default room setting is "muted").

The topics are too fluid to create individual rooms for them, but once a topic comes up it can last for some weeks, while other topics also come up from day to day.

How would you like to achieve it?

More notification control in threads, see above.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Using discourse was not decided upon by the community.

Regards!

Please do not close issues by wall time but e.g. by "not planned/ not wanted/ should be reported to Element/ ...".

Commenting here to disable auto-timeout-closure.
