Could this be made available as a custom integration (rather than add-on)? #5
Comments
I need to investigate a little bit more but it shouldn't be difficult. |
Same request. It would be great to have this plugin as an integration via HASS Thanks |
Did you have a chance to take a look at it? |
I have the same need |
I have been thinking about this and some other problems this implementation faces, and I'm planning to create another addon that is more independent from hassos or at least not so hacky. Currently, I'm using the event API to publish the Speedtest results, but I'm unable to create a new "sensor", thats why you need to install the official Speedtest integration. There is a number of limitations this project faces because of this approach. This new implementation should use mqtt to publish the Speedtest results and ease the utilization of this addon by non-hassos users. |
What we'd really welcome is an integration rather than an add-on :-) |
Oh that's a nice an idea! It should be easier than creating an add-on from zero, and it could reuse the majority of the code that is currently running in the "official version". I only need to figure out if I'm able to ship the Speedtest binary. |
It's what @Valdorama was originally asking |
Sorry! At the time I wasn't using custom integrations so I didn't associated. I needed to see your message with integration a bold ahahaha |
Got it. So you know any Home Assistant install work with integrations (that's the whole point) while add-ons are available only to those who have a Home Assistant supervisor. |
This addon is welcome but presumably only works for those running HA OS. If you're running HA Container then there are no add-ons available.
Is there any chance this could be updated to be implemented as a custom integration (so all HA users can use it)?
