Feature Request: ZGI DVD support #6
Comments
I have seen this issue too. I tried using the autoconvert scripts on an install of the DVD version, but it had some issues. There were no warnings or errors in the conversion process, but I expect a number of files didn't get converted correctly. The issues I saw involved a segmentation fault when trying to access the preferences and static replacing some of the audio in certain locations. While I don't own the CD version, I do own the GOG.com version of the game (which I understand is based on the CD version) and that works ok so far, though I haven't played through the game very far yet. I agree with ezekiel's comments above and I think we need better error messages in the conversion scripts so these issues are more apparent. |
The dvd version has higher quality versions of some videos, there are also The videos with actors in them are stored as vob files, format: They have borders so would need to be cropped to 704:336:12:70
The videos with voices have the same video as the CD release but uncompressed audio, format:
All other videos are identical to the CD version. |
This is an idea for much later as the ZGI DVD version is quite rare so support can wait until after Nemesis is working.
I think there are only two real differences between the normal version and the DVD version:
So the only changes would be in the conversion and making sure that Zengine allows higher resolution videos.
Here is a list with md5s of the DVD version file structure:
