Following the instructions here: https://github.com/Freenove/Freenove_Ultimate_Starter_Kit_for_ESP32/tree/master/CH340/Linux to install the driver on Raspberry Pi 5.15.18-v7l+ don't work (Bullsey)

try sudo apt remove brltty

(A certain braille reader uses CH340, and the kernel automatically associates the CH340 chip with the reader...)
This worked for me on Pop_OS after many hours of troubleshooting...
found solution with this helpful forum feed here (askUbuntu)
